I’ve noticed that when someone has gone to a party over the weekend and gotten really drunk, they love to relay their party stories the next week to those around them. Guys in the world are not shy about sharing their sinful sexual experiences with anyone that will hear about it. Women in the world don’t mind sharing their family’s exploits and everything that people have done wrong to them during the past week. The world is not shy about sharing their sins and their wickedness with us.
Why do I find myself pulling back when it comes to sharing how awesome I think God is? Why don’t I readily share something beautiful I read in the Word this week with a coworker? Why do I back away from sharing how God answered a prayer of mine or how awesome praise and worship was at my church this weekend? I really believe our society has made followers of Christ nervous about offending anyone with their Jesus talk. It’s kind of crazy, though. What is offensive about God answering a pressing need of mine? What is offensive about the hope, comfort, and peace I have found in the Word of God?
I believe there is a greater work of darkness present in silencing Christians from speaking about the wonders of God. The Bible says that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Your testimony of what God is doing in your life each week is powerful and the enemy does not want you to share it! The following verse tells us what the Lord’s faithful followers will do:
Psalm 145
All of your works will thank you, Lord, and your faithful followers will praise you. They will speak of the glory of your kingdom; they will give examples of your power. They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign.
What does a faithful follower of the Lord do? According to this verse, they praise Him, they speak of His glory, they give examples of His power, and they tell about His mighty deeds! Don’t you dare let the enemy or our society censor what you have to say about Jesus! They can censor His name on TV, they can censor His name in Washington, they can censor His name in schools, but they cannot censor me telling others about the mighty power of God at work in my life!!
God is worthy of my praise with my actions and with my words!
Father God, I love You and I don’t care who knows it! I want to live a life that demonstrates Your love to the people around me. Thank You for working in my life and please help me see opportunities that I can speak of Your goodness to those around me.
