Canyons

I came across a song the other day that I have had for a while but had not ever really listened to. It is called Canyons by Christ August. I love the lyrics because He says that in the good times and the bad times he will still praise the Lord. From the depths of his heart he screams:

I'm in love with You

'Cause canyons will echo my voice Screaming Hallelujah Oh, what a beautiful noise

As I sang this song to the Lord, I received a beautiful imagery in my mind of the canyons being my children. As I worshipped along with this song, I declared what I saw. Just as a person can stand in the middle of a canyon and hear their words echoing back, I will one day stand and look at my children and grandchildren and see the life I have lived echoing back at me through them.

What will we hear echoing back to us when we get to that point in our lives when our children are grown and we even have grandchildren? Will we hear anger, bitterness, and disappointment? Or will we hear and see them praising God with their lives? When I live a life that sings out I love You to the Lord, I will one day hear those same words coming through my children.

My actions always affect those around me. I am my daughter’s example of how a wife should honor her husband. I am my son’s example for who to look for in a wife one day. I am an example of how to consistently show my love for the Lord in how I speak, how I treat people, my attitude, and my zeal for the things of God.

My life is a song I’m singing for the Lord. When I get to the end of the song, I will hear the echo of my love for the Lord come back to me from my children and grandchildren.

Jesus, thank You for teaching me in such beautiful pictures. Please help me stay focused on the bigger picture of how my life will impact future generations and families that I have not even met yet. I love You and I thank You and praise You in advance for helping me create a legacy of love for You in my children’s future families.
